Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing
HCI

The HCI is an "Industry on Campus" project established in the context of the German excellence initiative jointly by the University of Heidelberg and the following companies:
Uni Heidelberg        Robert Bosch GmbH
Heidelberger Druckmaschinen    Heidelberg Engineering    Silicon Software    PCO

The HCI has been established in January, 2008 and moved to its new premises in March, 2008. The HCI consists of three chairs and two associate groups:

The strategic concept of the HCI is built on the simple fact that basic problems in image processing are largely application-independent. The approximately 60 scientists working in the HCI conduct basic research with the aim of providing cutting-edge solutions to basic image analysis problems for applications in industry, environmental and life sciences. The HCI is part of the institutional strategy of the University of Heidelberg within the Initiative for Excellence. The center is sometimes erroneously referred to as "Heidelberg Center for Image Processing"; the correct name of the center is "Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing", or "HCI" for short.
